When I was ten, maybe eleven, I used to deliver newspapers on my street. I’m not sure how I ended up with that gig, and I’m pretty sure I was the absolute worst newspaper delivery girl on the planet because I used to make my rounds after school at 3:30 or 4. Not exactly when most people wanted to have their papers delivered, I’m assuming.

Hi Friends! If you hang out with me over on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been making some changes to our living room recently. I actually changed things up a few weeks ago, but it’s taken me awhile to bust out the camera and finally take some photos to share with you guys.
The time between Christmas and Spring can feel awkward to a lot of people from a decorating perspective. Is it time for tulips and daffodils and little birds’ nests perched on stacks of books, or should we still be using evergreen?
I always say, do whatever makes you happy, honestly. Home is the most important place on earth, our respite from the outside world, the place we seek shelter both physically and spiritually. So being surrounded by what makes you feel most like you, is paramount.
But in my next few blog posts, I’m going to be sharing a few things that I do at this time of year as a sort of after Christmas refresh, while also keeping the house feeling cozy, so check back this week and next for a few ideas!
Today, I want to show you a little bit of how I’ve styled my bookcases, and also share an incredible offer with all of you, and I’m literally SO EXCITED about it. [Read more…]
Hi Guys! Happy New Year! I can’t believe I haven’t been on here updating you all on anything since Christmas.
Sorry! It’s been a whirlwind month. I literally have 3 posts started, and unfinished, floating around wherever unpublished blog posts float around in cyberspace, you guys. It’s felt utterly impossible to complete a single task this month. That sounds dramatic, but it’s true.
Mira turned one on the 9th and we were planning to have a little party for her, but a couple of nights before, Aubrey started with a stomach bug. And being the kind people that we are, we weren’t about to squeeze in a birthday party while our other littles could be incubating it too.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a terrible one and Michael and I managed to avoid it. We both felt a little off for a day, but no puking (hallelujah for oil of oregano). So, we cancelled the party, took the next week to catch up on [Read more…]
I’m popping in to share our living room dressed up and ready for Christmas with you today. I shared our kitchen last week, and you can find it here if you missed it!
This year, King of Christmas sent me this beautiful tree. We’ve actually always had a real tree in the past, but in the blogging world, seasonal ideas need to be up, photographed and shared a month before everyone else starts decorating, so a real tree would never make it until Christmas.
But anyway, before we really jump in to this tour, let me introduce myself just in case any of you are new to the blog.
My name’s Laura and I’m a mom to four, sweet girls ranging in age from ten years old to eleven months. I’m married to an amazing guy who’s the muscle behind just about all of my crazy design ideas. He’s a real estate appraiser, I’m an interior designer, and we live 50 minutes outside of Boston with our girls in our renovated farmhouse! [Read more…]
Oh my goodness, how is it already the end of November? I feel like life’s been moving in fast forward lately, but that’s ok because I am so excited that the holidays are here! #bringonthetwinklelights
Did you see my kitchen all dressed up for Christmas yesterday? You can see it here if you missed it.
I’m mostly done decorating for Christmas now, aside from our front porches, and the house is feeling super cozy. Mira’s been teething for weeks and all of the girls are getting over an awful cold, so there’s been lots of tears and whining and snuggling for the last few weeks. So decorating for Christmas and watching cheesy Hallmark flicks after bedtime has essentially been my mommy therapy.
Who else is into the Christmas movies right now? I must confess, I’m loving the heck out of them!
So, I went in a totally different direction than last year in terms of color scheme/Christmas theme and I can’t wait to share our living room with you guys! More on that in the next couple of days though.
I loved last years’ decor, but I wanted to pull out some of my more neutral ornaments and go for an even cozier look this year. If you missed last year’s tour, you can see it here.
Today I wanted to show you how I changed up the girls’ advent calendar that I made a few years ago, to fit more with this year’s Christmas theme.
I’m linking this post up to Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk 2017 Linky Party! Make sure you head over there for lots of incredible Christmas inspo!
Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We spent it at my sister’s house this year, and it was fun, and soul filling, and crazy (12 cousins under 11 under one roof!), and completely wonderful.
I’m so sorry that I was MIA for a bit. Mira was teething, the girls were sick in on again off again intervals, and between sports, meetings, deadlines, and the usual life stuff, I just didn’t have the time or energy for blogging!
But sweet baby girl’s little tooth has finally come through, the kids are on the mend, and I’ve thankfully had a couple of good nights of sleep this week. Yay, for small victories. [Read more…]
It’s hard to believe my oldest ‘little’ turned 10 a couple of weeks ago.
It’s even harder to believe that I can’t really call her little anymore. No, she’s definitely on the cusp of her teen years, and her birthday has, once again, pulled on my sentimental side.
I’ve found myself looking into the face of my nine month old these last few weeks, and seeing Jenna (my oldest) as a baby. Remembering all of her firsts, contemplating how much she’s changed – how day by day, she’s starting to need us a little less. [Read more…]
This blog post is written in collaboration with Bemz. I received a slipcover in exchange for this post, but the opinions shared here are completely my own.
Happy Weekend, Everyone! We had Jenna’s birthday party yesterday, and a couple of friends also popped in from Germany late last night, so we’ve had a busy but fun and love filled weekend over here. I’m going to share a bit of her party this week (you can see a little preview over on instagram), so come on back if you’d like to check it out!
I’m popping in today to show you a few changes that I’ve made in the living room in the last few weeks that I’m reeeally excited about. [Read more…]
We’re celebrating Jenna’s birthday on Saturday, but I couldn’t let her actual birthday go by without a special birthday treat. She chose these yummy apple cheesecake bars that I started making long before going gluten free 7 years ago. [Read more…]
Hi there! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by today. If this is your first time visiting my little corner of the internet, welcome! I’m Laura, a mom to four sweet girls (ranging in age from 10 to 9 months), wife to an incredibly supportive and talented guy, who’s the muscle behind all of my crazy ideas, and an interior designer living in the Boston burbs.
This summer we started to make over our front porches and our entryway, and I was SO hoping to have everything wrapped up at this point so I could share them both decorated for fall, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Our front door came warped, and because it was a custom order, the new one is taking forever to arrive, and it’s really set the project back.
I’m going to take some photos of the progress in the next few days though, and I hope you’ll come on back next week to see where we’re at!
I do have our living room and kitchen decorated and ready to share, and I hope you find some fall decorating inspiration to take back to your own home along the way today.
So if you’re ready, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s get started!
This year, I was kind of in the mood for a simpler approach to fall decorating.
In the living room, I restyled our bookshelves and brought in lots of wood tones and neutrals for warmth…
I wanted to keep the same pillows and drapes that I had going on this summer, and, as you can see, it wasn’t your typical fall palette.
But I made it work for fall by adding lots and lots of neutrals, and cozier textures to our built ins. [Read more…]
