Fall Decorating {Our Front Porch}

Hey Guys,

I have another fun post to share with you today!  If you’ve been stopping by regularly, then you probably already know that I’ve been sharing lots of Fall inspiration every Tuesday for the last few weeks, as part of the Happy Housie’s Seasonal Simplicity Series.  Every week, a group of amazing home bloggers have been sharing everything from House Tours, to Fall Mantel Inspiration, to DIY Fall Wreaths, and more.

I’ve been completely blown away by the talent and beauty that it’s brought together every week, so if you’ve missed any of those posts, you’ll definitely want to scroll back and check them out!

This week’s theme is Fall porches and entryways, and here is ours!

Fall Porch Decorating

Some of you have probably heard this dozens of times by now, but for those of you who are new, I live in Massachusetts with my husband and our 4 daughters, and we’ve been renovating our farmhouse off-and-on since 2008!

My hubby actually rebuilt our porches last summer.  We had that project on our to-do list for a l-o-n-g time, and it feels so good to finally be able to put a check mark next to that box.  It wasn’t as if they were falling down before – structurally speaking, everything was sound, which was why rebuilding them never quite made it to the top of the priority list.  The stairs and landings were made of poured concrete and the railings were wrought iron.  They feel more original to the house now, which makes me happy!

Fall Porch Decorating

For Fall this year, I decided to stick to a purple and mauve color palette.  I used quite a bit of purple/lavender inside, so I thought I’d keep the color palette cohesive outside too.  If you missed my Fall Tour last week, you can find it here.

I nestled a couple of lanterns between lots of plants and pumpkins…

And I tried to keep the colors pretty simple…

Mauve and purple flowers, with green and white pumpkins…

…All placed into an assortment of planters, that I keep stacked away in the shed when I’m not using them.

I always like to keep our side porch simpler than the main entry.

Over here, I literally dug up a couple of perennials (we have so many around here!), and repotted one in a galvanized bucket and the other in a bushel basket. A corn stalk, a few pumpkins, and that was all it took to make this side of the house festive for fall.

And that’s about it, you guys!

I actually decorated out here a couple of weeks ago now, and the purple flowers have all opened up since then.

I’ll try to take a few more photos soon, so you can see how it looks out here with all of those blooming too!

  4. Beautiful!

How will your lanterns hold up when placed out in the weather?
Any special care you give them?

    1. I really don’t know, lol! They’re outdoor lanterns from Lowes, so I’m hoping they’ll hold up well. I had them out for 2 months and just put them away for the time being, but they still looks the same. xoxo

  5. This is so pretty. Could you please tell me the color of the house and the door?

    Thanks,
    Ellen
