This week, I’m joining 30 amazing bloggers to share our homes all decked out for fall, as part of The Happy Housie’s Seasonal Simplicity Series! Don’t forget to check out all of the beautiful homes being shared down below!
I read a poem somewhere once that said something like, the best kind of love feels like hot cocoa, rainstorms, sitting by a warm fire in a small house. It was much more eloquent and beautiful sounding than that, but all that I could think while I read it was, that just sounds like home… Or at least how I want home to feel, anyway.
It’s that cozy feeling that I’m always aiming for when I’m decorating, no matter what season we’re in. Blends of colors and textures that just kind of wrap you up and feel like a hug.
For fall this year, I brought in lots of natural textures, dried flowers and wood tones to warm things up, and I stuck to a palette of mostly greens and peachy-pinks.
I bought this beautiful art over the summer and I wasn’t ready to part with it, so it ended up being the inspiration for everything that I pulled out for fall too!
I swapped my summery flowers for mainly dried, but also picked up some of the pretty, faux thistle-like flowers at Michaels for color.
I have a few pumpkins here and there, but my favorite way to decorate seasonally is to kind of just make things ‘feel’ like whichever season we’re in. So for fall, I brought out lots of chunky, soft textures, candles, along with lots of warm wood tones and neutrals. And, of course, I had to incorporate a bit of color too, because I love it!
If you remember my tour from way back in the spring, I mentioned that the coffee table that I’d ordered had gone missing somewhere on its way to our house, and then was backordered and I couldn’t get a replacement… It was quite the fiasco. So I ended up ordering this beautiful piece instead, and I’m SO happy with it. The quality is incredible and it’s definitely something we’ll keep for a looong time to come!
I also got a replacement cover for old faithful (our ten year old IKEA chaise) – on Amazon of all places! It’s so soft, and it made the coziest spot in the living room that much cozier.
Ok, brace yourselves, Guys. I have so many photos to share, and I’m just going to let you scroll through them from here on out! Wishing you all a Happy Fall!
And that’s about it, Guys! Let me know what you think about this year’s tour – I always love to hear from you! And don’t forget to check out the beautiful homes being shared down below as well!
