Powder Room Reveal: A Bold Little Jewel Box

When I first walked through this home, I knew it had incredible potential. Over the past several months, I had the joy of helping this family transform their spaces- from a study and dining areas to the laundry, mudroom, basement, living room and more. Each room carries its own personality, but together they form a calming, layered home that feels both warm and timeless.

While most of the house is a serene mix of soft neutrals and subtle pops of color, I always encourage my clients to have at least one space where they can truly go bold. More often than not, the powder room becomes that perfect little jewel box- and this one is no exception.

Why Go Bold in a Powder Room?

Powder rooms are unique spaces. They’re small, contained, and don’t need to “match” the rest of the house in quite the same way. That makes them the perfect place to experiment with color, pattern, or a bit of unexpected drama. Here, we leaned into a rich, botanical wallpaper that immediately makes the room feel special. The deep blue/green backdrop layered with soft florals sets the tone for an elevated but welcoming experience.

The Design Details

To balance the bold wallpaper, we grounded the space with a vanity in a moody green-gray finish, topped with clean, veined quartz. Brass fixtures and hardware bring in warmth, while the fluted glass pendant overhead adds just the right touch of sparkle and lightness. The vintage inspired art layers in history and charm, while a feminine, curved-edge mirror softens all the strong lines in the room.

A few flowers, soft linens, and thoughtful accessories were the finishing touches- small details that make a big difference in creating a space that feels curated rather than just decorated.

A Family Home, Elevated

This powder room was just one stop in a whole-home journey. Throughout the rest of the home, we kept things calm and airy, layering warm wood tones, organic textures, and soft, neutral palettes. Together, the spaces feel cohesive yet never repetitive. The powder room stands out as the bold detour- proof that even in the most serene homes, a little drama can be the detail that makes it unforgettable.
