Moody But Make It Soft – A Quietly Dramatic Dining Room
I’ve been working behind-the-scenes on this home for nearly 6 months and it’s so nice to be at a place to share some of the transformation. Most of the rest of this lovely home drifts in soft tones- creamy whites, mixed textures, rooms that feel light and calm. But then there’s her. Equally calm, but less light, and more ethereal and rich.

This dining room leans in. Painted in Poised Taupe by Sherwin Williams, she’s moody without being dark, grounded but never heavy. The kind of room that wraps you up like a favorite sweater and begs you to make something warm and cozy.
We layered in custom pinch pleat drapes in the sweetest ditsy floral print, paired with velvety chairs and a deeply rooted table that anchors the space. And the bubble chandelier? This was my client’s special request, and I was happy to oblige. I wanted the sparkle to really stand out, but not in a notice me kind of way. I was looking more for subtle, but also dramatic, juxtaposition against the other soft and earthy tones and textures.
This project has been a long time coming- filled with more hours and heart than just about any other project I’ve worked on. And I couldn’t be happier for the family who lives here, gathers here, and will be making memories in their beautiful, new spaces for years to come.

It’s the softness and textures that really bring their home to life- each detail chosen not just for beauty, but for durability too. This home was made to be lived in, and I can’t wait to share the rest with you.
It’s still a partial work in progress, but this dining room is already telling her story. Just a little peek while the rest of this home is still becoming. Stay tuned.
