Well, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, folks, and today I popped over to my sister’s house to help her set the table. It came together super quickly, and up until this afternoon, I really didn’t have any idea as to what we were going to do. I normally try to plan the table a little bit, but there’s been so much going on this year, and I just have not had the mental space to even think about it. I figured lots of you might be in the same boat, so I thought I’d share how the table turned out and how I pulled it together, in case you’re looking for an easy and last minute Thanksgiving tablescape idea too! Added bonus – everything I used will transition perfectly into your Christmas decor, with a few minor changes.
How to Make a Ginger Jar Lamp
Hey Guys! I have a simple tutorial on how to make this beautiful ginger jar lamp that I’m going to share tonight!
But first, did you all get out to vote today? I’m not one to get involved in the political sphere, but I have to say that this year’s election is depressing and concerning beyond words, and casting a vote was a big struggle for me. I’m nervous about the future of our country, regardless of the outcome, while at the same time doing my best to rest in the fact that God is in control.
But anyway, I don’t really want to get into it more than that tonight. There are plenty of other blogs that you’d no doubt be visiting if you were looking for political commentary, and I think we’re all probably oversaturated and overburdened with it enough already… I know I am! So, this blog post is a welcome distraction for me tonight, and I hope it is for all of you too. [Read more…]
Cozy Fall Sunroom Reveal {Part 2}
Hi Friends!
I wanted to have this post up last week, but I’m a little behind with everything at the moment. I’m just wrapping up my last project before this little one arrives, and I’ve been trying to clear out some clutter and some closets this week. How on earth can three children have so many toys and so many sad looking, barely useable art supplies? – is the question I’ve been asking myself as I’ve worked my way through the homework/art supply cabinet and the playroom. But I can’t even tell you how good it feels to be getting rid of things that we don’t need anymore and to be finding little things that we do need! Next up, the girls’ dressers and the linen closet, which also both desperately need some love.
The nesting phase has officially begun, friends! [Read more…]
How to Space Curtain Rings So They Hang Right Every Time
Happy Halloween, Friends!
I have a little secret that makes hanging curtains so much easier that I’m going to share with you today. But first, are you ready for Halloween tonight? I must say, I’m looking forward to getting the candy out of my house. Oh goodness, my willpower has been lacking this week, but the girls, of course, are beside themselves with excitement about dressing up and filling their bags with candy. Halloween hasn’t ever been my favorite holiday for the mere fact that I like pretty things a whole lot more than the spooky stuff, but I do get really excited to see the sheer joy that dressing up and trick or treating brings the girls. The world in general is a whole lot more exciting when we look at it through the eyes of children, isn’t it? And what’s cooler than knocking on neighbors’ doors and having them hand you candy just for saying trick or treat?!
I hope you all had a happy and restful weekend, and are easing back into the work week smoothly today. Our weekend felt jam packed, but let me tell you, the girls had fun! Every year the PTO at the girls’ school [Read more…]
A Favorite Fall Soup Recipe
Hi Friends! If you stopped by couple of days ago, then you already saw the casual fall tablescape that I set last weekend. Well, as promised, I’m popping in today to share this yummy fall soup recipe with all of you!
I feel kind of lucky because my girls absolutely adore soups, and so do I. And dinner recipes that actually make the entire family happy isn’t always a given over here! Soup is one of my favorite dinners to make as soon as the weather turns cool, because it’s like a totally balanced, one pot dinner that you can prep ahead and eat whenever. My kind of meal! A Casual Fall Tablescape {That Anyone Can Create}
Hi Everyone! Well, fall has officially arrived here in Massachusetts, and the foliage is so incredible this year! I honestly don’t remember the last time it looked this magical. I have so many wonderful memories of fall in New England from when I was young. Apple picking, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, blue skies against vibrant oranges and reds, perfectly cool days followed by crisp nights. I could seriously go on all day about what makes this season so special to me, but it’d be a blog post all its own, I swear!
So I’ll save gushing about apple cider and baking for another day, and share this simple and oh-so-cozy fall table, that literally anyone can recreate, with you instead. Best of all, it’s quick and super inexpensive to put together.
A Cozy Fall Sunroom Reveal with Raymour & Flanigan
Disclosure: I’ve partnered with Raymour & Flanigan and received product in exchange for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
Hi Friends! How are you? I can’t believe how busy the last couple of weeks have been. It all feels a bit like a blur, honestly! My dad had surgery, and there were a few bumps, and scares, and doubts along the way. But to his doctor’s, and all of our, amazement, he’s recovering much faster and with much less pain than expected, and I’m so happy and relieved about that! Thank you to all of you who sent your well wishes and prayers. They meant so much to me and my family, and they were certainly heard. Anyhow, during this time, we had a visit from the maryland sunroom builder to make some renovations on our sunroom. It’s a well-used room in our house and needed a revamp, especially with the seasons changing, I felt like it needed an update.
Today, I’m thrilled to be sharing part one of a beautiful, fall sunroom reveal that I wrapped up last week. It’s such a cozy room, you guys, and I’m so happy for the homeowners. Graceland Windows and Doors can provide the inspiration you need to create your own sunroom! They really are the perfect summer accessory!
Can I just say that designing this space has reminded me of how much I LOVE sunrooms? [Read more…]
A Fall Home Tour {And Simple Ideas to Cozy Up Your Space}
Hey Guys,
How’s your week been going? I can not believe tomorrow is Friday. This week f l e w . I’ve been been knee deep in a client project all week, and even though the weather has been back to feeling a bit more like summer than fall here in Massachusetts, I’ve been chipping away at adding in some fall touches to our own living room whenever I could as well.
A super sweet blogger friend of mine asked if I’d like to join her fall home tour back in August when we were still in Germany, but I knew there was no way I could meet the timeline once we got back home. And that proved to be a good decision, because here I am, finished with decorating almost two weeks after I would have needed to have my space complete! I’m super bummed to have missed out on the fun of that one, but hey, I can still share a few fall decorating ideas with you all now, right?
Come on in! Let’s pretend it’s getting chilly outside, and I’ve got an apple pie in the oven 🙂 [Read more…]
My Home Style Blog Hop {Before + After Edition}
Hi there, Everyone! If you’ve just popped over from Domicile 37 or are visiting me for the first time today, hello! Welcome to my little corner of cyberspace. I’m so happy that you’re here, and I hope you’ve been enjoying the incredible lineup of home decor inspiration as much me this week!
I’ve been loving the chance to get to ‘visit’ and be inspired by so many different bloggers, and by so many beautifully different styles over the course of the last few days. I enjoy decorating and I have seen a lot of talented bloggers whose ideas on where you can get furniture for your office will leave you feeling inspired!
If you’ve been a reader here for awhile – {welcome back, and thank you!} – and you’re not quite sure what I’m talking about, let me explain.
Stephanie, over at Casa Watkins Living, started the My Home Style Blog Hop last year. Before talking about that, if you are interested in purchasing some real estate then you may want to check out The Florence Residences Condo. For a week, she and loads of other talented bloggers share some part of their home style and give you tips and sources on how to achieve a similar look in your own space. This year, Stephanie asked us to showcase how our homes and styles have evolved and changed over time {boy, do I have some before and afters for you!}, and to define our home style in 3 words.
When I started brainstorming how I’d go about defining my style, I have to say I was stumped. That sounds pretty sad coming from an interior designer, but I’d honestly never tried to define my own style before. [Read more…]
How to Create the Perfect Gallery Wall
Hi Friends! How are you all today? Gosh, the weather here in Massachusetts is absolute perfection today. I’m sitting here with the windows open and the sun streaming in, the chestnut tree out front starting to change and let go of its leaves. The chipmunks are scurrying around the flower beds, getting themselves plumped up for winter.
I just love fall in New England. There’s something so magical about the blueness of the sky and the colored leaves, the smell of apple pie and warm foods baking in the oven. Yep, I’m in an iabsolutelyadorefall kinda mood today, and I can’t wait to finally have a little lull with work {and life} to get going on my fall decor here at home.
Well, last year at this time, I was just wrapping up an adorable playroom project. You may remember my reveal if you’ve been following along for awhile. If you missed it, you can see all of the photos {here}.
Here are a couple of photos to give you an idea of how the room turned out, and how large this gallery wall is.
