Hey Guys! How’s your week been going?
Things have been steadily busy and pretty uneventful for the most part around here. Except for the part where my husband came home with the girls’ first whoopie cushion, which made for an interesting evening yesterday! Here I am trying to teach manners and raise little ladies, and Michael’s bringing home whoopie cushions! I just keep telling myself that they’ll grow into very balanced young women 😉 I mean, they love painting their nails and dressing up in princess gowns, but also bring in toads and crickets to show me in the summertime, so….
all things in moderation? That’s what I’m going with anyway. It helps me sleep a little easier at night.
Well, the house is decked and ready to go for Christmas. The nesting phase that sets in during the last couple of months of pregnancy really worked to my advantage in terms of getting everything squared away for Christmas this year, and I honestly loved how relaxed the whole process felt in comparison to most years! And can I let you in on a little secret?
I used to think that bloggers were slightly out of their minds for getting their homes decorated so early. BUT… now that I’m actually the author of one, I get it.
You can’t decorate when everyone else does.
The whole point of putting your ideas and inspiration out there is to share them with other people, and if you don’t post them before most people are ready to decorate, what use is it to them? So, my decorating super early (umm, like getting started 2 weeks before Thanksgiving early) was in part due to that revelation and also motivated by the fact that we’re expecting our fourth little sweet pea, due on Christmas Day, this year. We shall see when she actually makes her debut!
Oh, and by the way, my full Christmas house tour is going live next Wednesday, so come on back and check it out next week! If you follow me on {Instagram} or {Facebook}, you’ve probably already seen quite a few sneak peeks, but I’ll be sharing lots more next week.
But anyway, I’m popping on tonight to reshare this adorable advent calendar that I made the girls last year.
You know what though? I’m actually pretty bummed about it at the moment because I can’t find it!
My husband cleaned out the basement over the summer, and I’m thinking somehow the wrong box was inadvertently tossed. The good news is, it was super cheap to make, and literally took 15 minutes. So perhaps I’ll be making another one this weekend! But it still kinda stinks! 🙁
This calendar cost about $25, but if you consider how much really cute advent calendars cost, that’s really not all that bad! Plus, it’s really simple, really quick, and super fun to put together. LOVE projects like that.
Here’s what you’re going to need:
• kitchen twine, string, or yarn
• muslin favor bags like these from Michael’s
• a number stamp set like this one
• and these adorable heart clothespins!
Honestly, the process for making this is ridiculously easy… Ready?
Stamp number 1 – 25 on your muslin bags using your stamp set.
Then string some of your twine along a window, a wall, in a picture frame – the options are endless, really.
Fill your bags with goodies, and clip them on to the string using those adorable heart clothespins.
I also clipped on some cute little ornaments, a little holly, and nestled some little elves into a few of the bags for more color…
Isn’t it cute, guys? And seriously, I don’t think it could get any easier. Let me know if you make it! I’d love to hear about how it turns out!
Have a happy Friday tomorrow, Everyone!
Laura ♥
