Happy Halloween, Friends!
I have a little secret that makes hanging curtains so much easier that I’m going to share with you today. But first, are you ready for Halloween tonight? I must say, I’m looking forward to getting the candy out of my house. Oh goodness, my willpower has been lacking this week, but the girls, of course, are beside themselves with excitement about dressing up and filling their bags with candy. Halloween hasn’t ever been my favorite holiday for the mere fact that I like pretty things a whole lot more than the spooky stuff, but I do get really excited to see the sheer joy that dressing up and trick or treating brings the girls. The world in general is a whole lot more exciting when we look at it through the eyes of children, isn’t it? And what’s cooler than knocking on neighbors’ doors and having them hand you candy just for saying trick or treat?!
I hope you all had a happy and restful weekend, and are easing back into the work week smoothly today. Our weekend felt jam packed, but let me tell you, the girls had fun! Every year the PTO at the girls’ school hosts an old fashioned costume party where the kids come in their costumes and get to trick or treat at classrooms throughout the school. Some of the teachers get really into it and deck out their doorways, and the kids have a blast. So we did that Friday night, and spent Saturday at the girls’ Halloween themed field hockey tournament. Each team dressed up as something different and they played in costumes instead of uniforms. We took them out for a late lunch/early dinner afterwards, came home, cleaned up, and watched a movie. Well, they watched a movie as I slept through most of it 😉 I’m telling you, this pregnancy has me wiped!
But anyway, I wanted to pop in today to share a simple technique that I use to space curtain clips perfectly every time! Â It’s quick and simple, and will dramatically change the way your curtains hang, I’m telling ya. So let’s get into it, shall we?
First, you’re going to need 9 ring clips per curtain panel. I got these little cheapies at IKEA, but they don’t look cheap at all when they’re hanging!
And then you’ll need to get out the drapery panel you’re going to hang, of course.
Fold your curtain in half lengthwise.
And then in half again, lengthwise.
{Thank you to my sweet Jenna-bean for demonstrating the folds for me! 😉 }
Fold the curtain in half one last time, lengthwise.
It will look like this from above…
You can also see in this photo that I’ve already added my first ring clip to one of the creases.
Add a ring clip to each crease…
Don’t forget any! If your curtain panel is folded tightly, some of them can want to hide on you!
Continue adding ring clips to each crease, until you’ve used all 9 rings…
Like so!
Your curtain panel will be full of clips when you’re finished, and will look like this.
Unfold your curtain, and VOILA! Perfectly spaced ring clips, every time!
So simple, right? Hanging your curtains this way saves so much time!
And it’ll save you the heart ache of saggy, sad looking drapes, too! Because who wants to step back and look at that, after you’ve gone to all the trouble of ironing draperies and installing curtain rods? I know I don’t.
Well, guys, I hope this post was helpful!
And thanks so much for stopping by. It really means a lot to me that you’re here! I hope you have a great week!

Great tip, but I’m more interested in the lovely curtain! Is it purchased, or did you buy fabric?

Hi Rebecca! I bought these at World Market a couple of years ago and they still sell them 🙂 They’re called ‘Aqua Genevieve.’ Happy Halloween!
