Hey Guys! The Christmas Season is upon us! Can you believe it? One of my facebook friends shared this last week, and I don’t know about you, but this couldn’t be any more true for me! The last year has f l o w n by, and the last two months especially.
But despite the busy-ness Christmas can bring, it truly is one of my favorite seasons, and I absolutely love the chance we get, to peek into so many homes decked out for the holidays at this time of year. Each day this week, a new group of talented bloggers are sharing their Christmas homes as part of The Happy Housie’s Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series and I think you’ll be very inspired! I’m up today, and if you’re visiting me from Danielle over at Finding Silver Pennies, welcome! Danielle is so incredibly talented and I’m excited to be joining her today, along with all of the other ladies you see below!

I shared our Christmas tree and our living room all dressed up for Christmas last week, and if you missed that post, you can find it here.
And today, I’m sharing a few festive changes that I made in our kitchen for Christmas this year.
So come on in, and join me on this little tour!
Whenever I’m decorating my kitchen, I like to keep things simple.
I try to display things that you’d typically find in a kitchen anyway, but in a way that feels classic and fresh.
Every year, at some point around the holidays, my husband comes home with a bag of unshelled nuts, and this year, I poured them into my pedestal bowl, added a simple nutcracker, and I think it’s a fun and festive touch for the island.
How gorgeous is my new coffee machine by the way? I spent such a long time reading through coffee making equipment reviews on websites like https://buyersimpact.co.uk as I wanted to be certain that I was making the best decision and I am so glad that I did. I am actually going to invest in a few new kitchen appliances after Christmas so I will definitely be reading plenty of kitchen appliance reviews while doing my research. Watch this space!
As you can see, I’ve added fairy lights and little evergreen trees here and there…
And changed up the hutch a bit…
The advent calendar that I made for the girls a few years ago, made its grand debut again (I usually just buy paper house advent calendars at the grocery store, take out the chocolate, and put a piece for each of the girls into every pouch to keep the gifting simple.)
I have a tutorial sharing how I made the calendar too. Find it here!
And then I decorated our breakfast nook with an assortment of paper and fabric trees that I’ve had for years (from Target and World Market)
A funny story about these pinecones… My husband went to Lake Tahoe for a few days with some friends this Fall, and came home all excited to give me these enormous pinecones because he knew I’d love them. Which I did!
I mean, the man knows me. For some women, romance is all about jewelry and roses. Me? #givemeallthepinecones
For those of you who live out west, giant pinecones are probably old news, but I’ve never seen anything like them before, and I’m smitten with this simple table setup!
I added a simple, faux evergreen garland that I’ve had for years, and layered it with a couple of different pom pom garlands, and the little bell garland that I made a couple of years ago (tutorial for that, here!)
And that’s about it for my little Christmas kitchen tour, you guys!
Wishing you all a merry and bright Christmas season, overflowing with love, and blessings, and cake, and memory making…
I’m so glad that you stopped by, and I hope you’ve found a little bit of Christmas inspiration to take home with you too.
Don’t forget to stop by Confessions of a Serial DIYer next! Christy’s home is beautiful, and I’m always so inspired by what she shares!
And the inspiration continues all this week, so don’t forget to check back and see who else is sharing as the week goes on!

Your kitchen is simply gorgeous, so relaxed and beautifully decorated. I will try and tackle mine now that you inspired me big time! Do you live near Tahoe? I’m in Northern California and I know about those big pinecones. I almost brought some home from a family hike but didn’t want to carry them for a couple of miles. Your husband sounds so thoughtful!
Laura says
Hi Janine! No, we live in Massachusetts, actually, so those pinecones were completely new to me! Our pinecones are little pipsqueaks in comparison, lol. I’m so glad you stopped by! xoxo
Dannyelle says
Your kitchen is so beautiful. I love the layered garlands, especially the pretty bells. And what could be more romantic than pinecones? Great story.
Laura says
Haha, right?! I really do love them, and couldn’t believe he managed to get them here in tact! Thanks so much for stopping by, Dannyelle!

Thank you, Danielle! We do end up doing loads of baking every year at this time! And then try to make up for it at the gym come January 1st, lol! I hope you’re having a great week! xoxo
