I left High Point Market last month with lots fresh excitement and new ideas that I can’t wait to share with you guys via upcoming projects this year. The Design Bloggers Tour was So. Much. Fun.
I love browsing my local high end furniture store, looking for inspiration, designing luxury spaces — it’s so much fun! I was very excited when we got to take a behind the scenes look at some of my favorite showrooms and were able to hear the inspiration behind quite a few lines from super inspirational designers. Gah, you guys. I’m still pinching myself.
There were some new design trends making debuts, as well as some trends that have been around for a few years that are continuing their reign (‘millennial pink’, which we all now simply refer to as blush, for example, is still going strong).
If you missed the first part of this post, you can find it here!
Pink!
Here we are, getting to meet Ryan Korban, at the EJ Victor showroom! His line was so luxurious, and I adored how he used really interesting materials in unexpected ways.
Mixed Materials
His suede wrapped, Clement Mirror that you see above, was a fave. And actually, mixed materials, and materials used in various, unexpected applications is trending big time right now, as well. Two toned chests, cabinets, shelves and mixed upholstery were everywhere at market.
Outdoor Living
The idea of creating outdoor living spaces has reached a whole new level in the design world. Pool companies like California Pools and decking installers are more popular than ever before. People are wanting to spend more time outside so properties with the perfect outdoor living spaces are very desirable. So, a house that has got a patio, a pool with matching tiles, a suitable towel rack from Easy Home Concepts, tasteful furniture, and maybe even an outdoor kitchen is pretty much perfect. On top of this, there are now so many different styles to choose from, from the uber traditional to mid century modern. Whatever your style, there’s now sure to be a brand to cater to every design sensibility.
We visited the very traditional and high end Lloyd Flanders showroom during the tour, and I was blown away by the quality of their pieces – some of which grace the grounds of the White House.
I would absolutely love a couple of these rockers on our front porch! Beautiful, right?
A couple other tour highlights included a tour of InterHall, home to some of my most favorite vendors, and a super impressive Crypton Fabrics demonstration.
I was already a huge fan of Crypton before the tour, but I learned so much new info on the trip, I am now a diehard now, lol. When it’s time to upgrade our living room sofas, I will 100% be sourcing Crypton. If you’re not familiar with them, their fabric resists stains. It beads liquids. It rejects odors and bacteria. It’ll essentially last until you’re ready to change out your furniture. They partner with Lee Industries (and lots of others!), which was another favorite showroom from the tour.
A Fresh Take on Traditional
But back to this year’s trends!
Traditional design elements, of course, never go out of style. They’re timeless. But another trend that I spotted during the tour, was a sort of updated traditional aesthetic.
Traditional lines paired with modern fabrics, or unexpected finishes and color palettes were in just about every showroom.
And I think this was one of my most favorite trends of all to see because traditional design that feels fresh and current pretty much sums up my design style! I definitely pepper in a few modern/trendy elements whenever I decorate, but I’m a traditional girl at heart.
And well, that pretty much sums up High Point this Spring, you guys! If you missed my trend takeaways {part one}, you can find it here. We’re also redoing our master bath at the moment, and I shared a few mirrors that I spotted at High Point that are in the runnings for it! {See them here}
Special thanks to Esteem Media and The High Point Market Authority for having me on the tour!
